Justin Hawkins Leaves The Darkness

I went to see The Darkness before the hype and they were 'entertainment'.
Sad loss to the band but from what I've seen its his brother that does all the work.
Apparently Justin turns up in the studio and does his bits.

Real shame - when this band broke I thought we were really on the crest of a wave musically... things are a lot better these days than the nu metal grotfest of 2001-2002 but they really injected some balls into music. Love is Only a Feeling :(

Hope they can carry on in some amazing way, who knows.

When they first came out I was really anti-The Darkness as they seemed to be everything I was against in rock. Then I read a few interviews in verious guitar mags with Justin Hawkins and I realised he actually is a very clever and talented muso. Okay, he doesn't shred like Marty Friedman but his guitar playing is good and is really into the while Queen-esque side of song writing and composition (you can certainly hear May influences in a lot of TD guitar tracks).

It'll be a shame if they definitely do part ways, although he seems to be a lazy bugger he is The Face of the band and they will struggle without him I fear?

EDIT: I'm actually a pure liar. I was thinking of an entire diffrent thing. Carry on.

I hear T.Rex, I hear Slade, I hear AC/DC, I hear The Sweet, I hear Status Quo, I hear a lot of influences but I don't hear any Queen.

sad to see justin go, another minor 'darkness' fan here (this town ain't big enough for the both of us is a tune!) but the way i see it, if the line up changes, especially when it's the loss of the most recognisable member of the group - they should dispand, maybe start a new band under a different guise, but i don't think they should be marketed as the same group

IT was a godawful remake of a classic song!

Really..? There are a lot of guitar parts that pay serious homage to Sir Brian of May..

Forgot, there is an intro to a song on the 2nd album that is Queen-esque.
Most people think they sound like Queen because Justin had a cat suit on once.

Has anybody heard their new bass player sing? I have a concert I recorded of German TV and he does an AC/DC medley and he ain't half bad.
