JV to race for 1Malaysia (err, "Lotus F1")?

There are rumours...

From 606 on the BBC site said:
I work at Lotus and i've just seen former world champion Jacques Villeneuve having his photo's taken with some staff (a lady from HR and the guy who works in the shop for some reason!).

Now obviously we're nothing to do with the Formula 1 team, but should he sign up to drive for the Lotus 'brand' then one would imagine he'd come to Hethel at some point.

I had heard his name mentioned a while back for a comeback, so seeing him was quite a surprise, but that's a new name in the hat isn't it?

While Lotus cars are tenuously linked to Lotus F1, surely there would be no reason for him to be at Lotus Cars for any reason to do with the F1 team.

This is much more likely to be due to him buying an Evora or something.

If he does drive for a team again it will be good, but I highly doubt this specific sighting has anything to do with it.
 
Ohherr he was just down the road then :D

Lotus F1 is currently based right up near the factory though isn't it? So perhaps he dropped in for some reason? Not sure.
 
i think JV has still got something if he was at a top team. Don't think he is the one to drive a team forward or get remarkable results from a crap car though.

They are still localish, I think they are based at a site previously set-up by Toyota not so far from Hethel? In other local motorsport related news I stumbled across the home of iSport afew days back, I knew they were local but not that local.

I would be great to see him back, ever since new teams were announced he hit the press and badly wants to come back. so wouldn't be surprised if he's signed.
 
Stay the **** away from F1, especially these little teams. The cars are getting to a format he would love which Is why he's contemplating a return but he really doesn't need the aggro. Why come back to finish 18th.

If there was a mid pack team in the offing it might be worth a punt, say williams but these mew teams entering are a bit of a joke.

I think the F1 team are in Hingham. We're just full of little teams round here!

what about the tradition of having a "company car"

if lotus were trying to sign me id damn right be asking for a nice elise or whatever thrown into the deal to sweeten it. and a factory tour when i pick it up.

IF all they ever negotiated in contracts was money it wouldnt take half as long if it wasnt for sweetners like this.

Then go race somewhere that actually show cases the ability of the best wheel to wheel racer F1 has had in the last 15 years. F1 isn't the place, he should have gone back to Indy years ago and had fun.

F1 has never been about fun. Its a cesspit of politics.

I'm sure Hamilton and Kobayashi will happily do some wheel to wheel racing ;)

'I'm really tempted to take your £2-3m+ a year deal but to be honest what I'd really like first is you to throw in a 30 grand car'

After having a snout it would appear you are correct, based at RTN in Hingham which was built by Toyota and then used by Bently for its Le Mans project. If JV has been around these parts I cant say I have seen him on my travels, round the Hingham/Hethel area these past few days. In all honesty Im not sure what I would make of a JV return to F1. I know he made comments about returning due to him liking the direction the cars were taking but the chances of getting a half decent drive are nill. Would it be worth it just to run around in the mid field at best?
 
Didn't JV appear at a race sometime this year? I am sure someone asked him on camera if he wanted to make a comeback and he made it sound like he was interested if there was an offer

its the motorsport equivalent of mats and flaps ;)

Look at the sweet cars schumacher got to drive in his time at ferrari. All the good drivers will probably got offered stuff like this anyway. I bet its written into their contract so they cant go back on it though.
 
when JB was racing for BMW he was given a 330d, and proceeded to get caught in France doing 140mph. excellent publicity!

regarding schumacher, you do realise he's still tied to ferrari, but his company car is a Fiat Croma
he doesn't 'need' fancy cars as he has his own private collection

i doubt that a free elise is going to sway you to sign for a team.
what did Sutil get, free beer?
