You guys normally come up with some good alternatives, the Pioneer CD player I had in my Focus was fantastic.

I've had also had a quick nose at this: http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/alpine-idax305-p-7224.html

It's the Ipod only player (As I don't use CDs anymore either)

Although Bluetooth isn't all that neccacary i'd like it if possible, but I-pod compatability is a must. Also single DIN.

Budget is around £300 of my hard earned pennies :)

Edit: my standard CD player has a Denison ICE link already.. would that be useable?

I have a avx33 which is essentially an earlier version of the JVC in your link, very very good unit, good SQ and bags of features, I only use the USB for my music, and DVD's are alright.I cant fault mine dude.

I have been looking at similar units for my own car. Pretty much decided on the Alpine you link to, mostly because the interface looks slightly easier to use :).

Take a look at some videos of them both on YouTube, might help you make your mind up.

I've got the X001 (the very first HU they did of that style) and its superb.

JVC ICE kit is pure tat IME, you're much better off with the alpine.

JVC stuff is actually very good, Alpine are no longer the daddies they once were, Pio,JVC etc al have long since caught up in the cheap end of the market.

Tbh, if you are after SQ, Blaupunkt,Becker & Nak is where you should be looking.

Yes, alpines used to be (and still are to a certain extent) bloody good, but the gap is nowhere near as large it was, plus the avx range is reasonable high end, decent DACS etc.

The last **** hot unit I had was the Pio 77MP, and before that the Alpine 7930,the JVC I have now is as good as them tbh.
