K2 & RAM Question!

Does anyone know if the Patriot Intel Extreme Masters 16GB will fit under the Alpenföhn K2 Mount Doom when fitted to the Asus P9X79 Intel X79 motherboard?

From what I can find, the cooler has a height of 4.32cm when fitted and the RAM is 4.1cm as a unit. Looking at that there, I would say it would fit, but I don't want to risk it and get it wrong.

Can anyone advise?

Looking at the design i dont think you would have much if any room. The fan sits down from the main heatsink a lot so impossible to say, I have the same memory and a Xigmatek Aegir cooler and that only just fits above the 1st ram stick.

It looks around the same height as corsair vengance, if not slightly less tall. Vengeance fits under the K2, so you should be ok.

if you use the front fan, you'll need to raise it a bit.

You should get away with it. As Uncle Petey says, you may need to raise the front fan slightly.

I used to use vengeance lp with my k2. With the fan removed, there was a bit of a gap to get the ram in without much issue. Now using samsung green ram, dont even have to remove the fan now.

The front fan is actually at the back as an exhaust and will eventually be removed when OcUK get the TY-147's in stock so I can replace the middle fan and use that solely. I know the clearance will be tight and I'll have to make sure I install the RAM first. Really looking forward to getting the X79 chipset.
