K750i - 02 - Sim not working

Just bought a second hand k750i which was used with 02, was supplied with the box and all accessories so I assume it's all ok. However when I use my pay a you go sim it won't reconise the sim.

It will search for coverage and then display 'Emerg.calls only'. When going into the 02 settings on the menu, it's says , use secondary account, once clicked yes it says. settings not valid, please check with your provider and try again.

Not sure why this is not working. Tried an old orange sim but it's asking for a pin number not sure what that is either. Would that be the phone pin or a sim pin?

Any Help would be great.

Last time I saw the emergency calls only message the phone was a barred handset I had just got from a dodgy guy I know. The phone sounds likes its been stolen or reported as stolen so will be barred from all uk networks.
As for the sim pin code, it will be asking you for the code you set on the pin, which is ually 12345 iirc. Where did u buy the phone from?

Ebay unfortunately, tried another sim which is a m&s one which does the same. The phone can get the contacts, but won't connect to the network. Seems like it may be a dodgy phone. Going to go to an 02 shop tomorrow and see what they say.

The guy said it worked with vodaphone he tried and a o2 sim. Had emailed back saying if I have anymore trouble could arrange a refund. Had good feedback and all.

I assume 02 will be able to tell if it's a dodgy phone then?

Edit: Would it be a possibility that it's locked to 02 contract only?

02 will be able to check and see if its blacklisted. there is no such thing as o2 contract only, if its unlocked to o2 then it will work fine on both o2 payg and o2 contract. Your lucky that the seller is being co operative, people tend to seel their contract phones on ebay, then register them as stolen a few weeks later to get new handset for free via the insurance

Looks like that could be it then. What are my options then? Trying to get a refund. What could I do if he refuses? I paid by paypal. Was a bit stupid by the looks of things.

Go for a full refund including return postage, if that fails than refund for the phone and not the postage. If he refuses to co-operate then e-mail ebay with a complaint saying he sold stolen goods, and launch a complaint with paypal, its a long hassle but you will get the cash back

Turns out it must be a dodgy arial in the phone. For some strange reason it would not pick up any signal in my house, was fine for five minutes when outside though. Managed to get a refund. Really strange problem though.
