Good Evening,

I am having some problems with my SE K800i, it says Inactive SIM (where the operator logo should be)! It was working perfectly until this evening and for some reason it just wont work anymore.

I have tried the SIM card in a different phone and it works (so it's not a SIM problem?)
However I have also tried a different SIM in my K800i and that also works!?

Any ideas?

try switching between GSM only & GSM and 3G in Settings->Connectivity->Mobile Networks

No joy unfortunately :(

I really don't know what the problem can be... I have tried a different SIM and that works, I have tried the SIM in a different phone and that works..

It just seems to be the combination of that one SIM and the phone that causes a problem

Is the SIM card ok? No scratches or anything? You tried leaving the battery and SIM card out of your phone for at least five minutes?

SIM card seems fine, as said it works in a different phone

Removed the battery and SIM overnight but still no joy.... think I'll have to try and update the firmware when I'm back at work on Monday (left the USB cable in work) and see if that does anything.. If not then who knows

Mate have you done a master reset?, sorry havent read all the posts.

EDIT: also put the sim in your phone, and then when it says "inactive sim", go to tools and try a manual network search.

Haven't tried the master reset yet (was hoping that there was some other way to fix it).

Tried the manual network search and then select the correct network listed and it still comes up as inactive sim

Mate something just popped into my head, where did you buy this phone from? and the sims that you have tried in the k800i are they the same network as your own sim, also can you dial out from these other sims?

I have had the very same problem with 2x K750i's and a brand new K610 all in the last 3 months and all on Voda. I have now gone back to nokia but i still like the looks of the K800 and when my contract is up in 2 months who knows i'll probably get my leg in with the K800 I have never had any luck with Sony phones.

Phone was bought from ebay a few months back.

My o2 SIM suddenly stopped working, the vodafone SIM I tried works in the phone as expected.

Will try an Orange, T-Mobile & 3 SIM in it tomorrow at work before I then do a master reset... If it still doesn't work then I guess I'll try to update the firmware but not very hopeful of getting it fixed.

pal your not gonna wanna hear this but the buyer you bought from whats his feedback like?, plus has he sold many phones because to me sounds like an insurance claim has been made, and the phone has been barred, and yes it can be barred on one network before the others bar it. let me know what you think i may be on the wrong track but to me it just sounds like that.

Not what I wanted to hear nope :p

His feedback was decent, sold quite a few phones. However having browsed round the internet and by looking at svens post then it seems that a good number of SE phones have done the same, even brand new ones

You will be lucky if you can find a firmware update for the k800i as there isnt an official SE one although wotanserver has a supposedly updated firmware but like hell im going to pay 8 euros to update my phone.
Also even if you do a firmware update, chances are that it wont fix your phone.

Now if i was you id be returning the phone back to whoever you bought it from if possible or send it off to an SE repair center where they can either fix or replace it for you.

As Scientific just said above...sounds like you got yourself a dodgy phone ie its been barred.

Damn, sure hope it isn't barred!

Is it any coincidence that it stopped working after going through the xray machine at the airport... turned the phone off for it to go through the machine and then when I turned it back on it was when it stopped working

Hmmm could be but i doubt it, the x ray machines at airports are supposedly 'safe' but you never know.

shouldnt be cuz in that case no sim would work in the phone, Yeah as Spawn said a firmware update is gonna cost you about 8euros the problem now is that on Wotan server it says that your EROM needs updating aswell so thats another 8euros, but completely different subject.

Contact the seller or drop it at a carphone warehouse repair centre they will repair it or send it to SE, they will only need a receipt to show phone is still in warranty, but as its only been out for a few months you shouldnt need one.

Have sent off an email to the seller so hopefully he'll get back to me.

Got an upgrade due next month so not too depressed about it to be honest
