I got a K800i earlier this week (it's with O2 and came basically sim free as my Orange sim works in it as well) and have a couple of questions for other K800i owners.

1. Is there any way to extend the time the screen stays on for ? It seems to go into sleep mode very quickly.

2. Has anyone else had problems with video playback ? I've converted some music video's to 320x240 mp4 files and copied them onto a 512MB MS Micro but when I play them back on the K800i the audio is OK but the video playback stutters and is far from smooth. The same videos playback on my ipod and psp with no problems.

There is no way to extend the time the screen stays 'active' before it goes into sleep mode. You can set it to display the uber cool clock, and sms/mms/missed call icons though :)

Convert your videos with M3 , It can convert your avi's etc, and it can even convert from DVD's! It has profiles for several phones, I've not ventured further than these, and I've had no problems with videos on my K800i :)

I'll give M3 a run, thanks for the tip. I'd converted the videos with 3gp or videora previously for displaying on my other devices but it seems the bitrate capability of the K800i's a little behind.

I'm disappointed in the sleep mode timer, but I'll have to live with it :(

/Edit

I re-encoded some with videora set to 320x240 / 256Kbits / 64KBits and they playback fine on the K800i.

Make sure you are using 3GP.

PSP and Ipod use MP4 AVC which is incompatible. You could try normal MP4 too which is like 3GP.

I encode all video content destined for my K800i as MP4, with M3.

It encodes the audio as either AAC or MP3, and the video, by default, as Xvid MPEG-4 Simple.

Works like a charm
