Calling all SE k810i users......

.....the flash hasn't flashed yet - even when set to auto. You also can't seem to get that "constant torchlight" that I've seen on the k750i.

Am I missing a setting or is it time to send back and have replaced? As an aside, the numbers next to the keypad buttons don't light up either, although I'm not sure if they are supposed to.......

This is one of the main reasons I kept my K750i. The torch is pretty much the third most-used option on my phone (second only to calls and texts)

You can get a java app to use as a torch with the k800 (it uses the orange AF light) and probably the k810i. Have you tried the keys and the flash in the dark? that would be the best way to know

When you say 'can't seem to get' do you mean you can't find an option or it doesn't work when you try to turn it on?

For the torch:
http://torchk800.matlista.se/
Click "Torch Download", download the .jar and send to the phone. Works a treat.

For the flash:
1. Get the phone to the standby screen but not locked.
2. Press this sequence of keys: > * < < * < *
('<' being move joystick left; '>' being move joystick right)
3. This should bring up a service menu, the very bottom option being ""Discharge Flash". Select it.
4. About 5-10 seconds later the flash should fire regardless of lighting conditions. If it doesn't, it's time to return the phone.

The numbers on the keypad do light up, but unlike the rest of the backlighting, these are white. The only way you can see them is in darkness: in daylight they appear not to light.

The K800i and K810i use a xenon flash (like a 'real' camera), whereas virtually all other phones (K75i et al) use simple LEDs. That's why the K800/K810 can't use the flash as a torch.
