Hi All,

Don't ask me why, but I reset my BIOS to the default settings the other day and when The machine restarted I got this long single beep repeated every couple of seconds. I cleared the CMOS and powered up and I get to the first stage of the POST where it checks the memory (did that fine) , tries to find the hard drives (couldn't find the), and checks the other drives (finds 2 DVD drives) then it comes up with this warning "cmos checksum error - defaults loaded" with the options of F1 to continue or Del to enter BIOS.

If I continue, it is OK until I get to the Verifying DMI Pool Data, then it comes up with "Boot from CD: and then Disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter. " I assume this last warning is because the system can't find the hard drives? If I then ctrl alt del, I get the long beep(s)

If I press del, I go to the Bios and check that everything that is needed is enabled and restart, I get the long beep(s)

And so it goes every time I choose one of the 2 options

Can anyone offer any advice as to how I should proceed now?

Dave

spec:
athlon 64 3000 Venice
2Gb DDR pc3200 333 Dual Channel RAM - tcl:3 , trcd:3 , tras:7 , trp:3 (2T timings)
K8 Neo2 board with BIOS ver 7025 1.B mod by sideeffect
150Gb raptor on primary master
300Gb Seagate on primary slave
plextor 755a on secondary master
HP DVD 640 on secondary slave
xp home

OK, changed the battery and still nothing. BUT, what I did do was to change the T1 timing setting to T2 and we got a stage further.

The machine went right past the stage where it said CMOS error and right to the part where it said disk boot Failure. Still no sign of the hard drives though.

Anyone?

Dave
