Kailh Reds vs Cherry MX Reds

I'm looking to replace my QPad MK-85 that had an unfortunate fizzy drink interface failure! I would like to replace it with the MK-90 because I want rgb lighting (sue me :p) but I see that the 90 uses Kailh Red switches instead of Cherrys.

There seems to be conflicting info online about the differences and quality of the Kailh switches. Has anyone here had experience of the and can tell me how they shape up to Cherry reds?

only have an experience with the razer ones sorry which were OK not the best cherry alternative i've used but I don't believe there was anything wrong with them.
 
They're made to impersonate rather than replace, you can look on the mechanical keyboard subreddit or geekhack website and search for people reviewing boards with Kalih switches to get more insight!
 
Just to update - I bought the MK90 and have compared it to the MK85 - there is absolutely no difference between the switches :)

It's also a relief to be back on a mech after spending the last few months on a membrane - eeewwwww, membrane ^_^
