Evening all,

Is it me or does your Kameleon remote seem to run out of battery extremly quickly, like after only a bit of use.

I am using rechargable batteries which have a rating of: 1000mAH (made by Vapex)

Does anyone else have this problem? What batteries do you use?

Thanks...

The batteries in mine only last about a month, sometimes less. When I first got it I thought it was faulty but they just drink the juice. Im using cheap rechargeables now, probably the best answer.

If it's the one with the Flat EL screen, then it's because it's got a stupidly over sensitive tilt switch in it that turns on the backlight on if there's so much as an air current in the vicinity. That's what eats up the battery, not the remote itself.

You can disengage this (by internally modifying the remote, at your own risk), and the batteries will last substantially longer. You can probably find the details via google.

I have already done this and find the battery doesn't last long....

How do you find those remotes?

My olg girl has a remote for Sky, remote for the dvd, remote for the tv, etc. Is it easy to consolidate them and use the kamelon remote?

He's not..... well, not exactly.

Is this a universal remote type thing? I'm looking at the Logitech Harmony ones. The 785 looks pretty damn good.

I've not used the 785, but I've got a couple of 885's and they're fantastic.

The 785 is a new model, slightly less functions than the 885 but it has a nice row of colour buttons (ie the red, green, blue, yellow for interactive TV) which I didn't see on the 885. No price for the 785 that I can find yet though.

The 885 does have those buttons. Both the units I have look slightly different to the pictures on the Logitech website. The colour buttons on mine are above the menu, exit, guide and info buttons - where the up and down arrows are on the pictures.

My One For All Kameleon 8 URC-9960 also eats batteries but it's only because it's too sensitive to movement.

The functionality and looks make it worth while though
