Hi. I've got a Kandalf LCS which a friend I'm no longer in contact with put together for me. I'm looking to replace the CPU in the machine but am struggling on where to start to remove the watercooled CPU block. The instruction manual doesn't have an uninstallaton section and I don't want to end up with coolant all over the machine. Has anyone attempted this before, or is there a generic guide to uninstalling watercooling?

Thanks.

Not sure what CPU block it is, But it should just have a couple/4 screws holding it onto the motherboard, Unscrew those and it willl come off. You shouldn't need to remove the tubes if there is enough play in the pipes.

Make sure to put new thermal paste on though.

I have the same case. All you have to do is unscrew the four screws, remove the plate and there ya go. The piping should be tight enough to the block so no leaking will occur. I've changed the CPU numerous times without issue, so you should be fine. :)

Just remember to reapply the thermal paste and reseat the cooler block well, as I made a mistake of it once and saw my temps rocket to 80*c in no time lol.

Edit: Just seen your reply to the previous poster... Are you changing socket type of the motherboard? or just changing like for like?

As I understand it, you're just changing the cpu, not the block, right? If so, there is no need to drain the system.

You don't need to if you're just replacing the CPU. Just take the waterblock off, Hold it whilst you replace the CPU and then refit the block. It will all be safe while you do this.

Wow. Well that makes things a hell of a lot easier. I am replacing a dual core CPU with a quad core which is supported on this mobo. Sounds like something even I can do.

Thanks very much for the info all.
