Does anyone use a steam mop when cleaning their Karndean flooring? If you do please let me know what model you use. I'm just looking for something to make my domesticated life easier :)

I know it's not the same but we recently replaced all our floor in the kitchen and living room with oak flooring.

I have no qualms giving it a quick hoover then steam mop to keep it clean.

I picked up a Vax one when Argos were doing some offer.
Laminate flooring+ model or something.

Their own website regularly has decent sales tho

I'd like to know too!

My bathroom has Karndean flooring and it's developing a bit of an "off" colour where it has got a bit wet over time (near the bath, out of sight). I wonder if steam mopping could cause a similar issue, so haven't done so yet.

We had Amtico flooring put down by an approved fitter last year and we asked him about using a steam mop we had just purchased.... he said not to use it on Amtico flooring...So its still in its box under the stairs!

A quick google and Amtico.com seems to say the same thing as the fitter.

AFAIK its the same kind of stuff as Karndean.

We did also ask the fitter about maintenance, and from what I remember you can get proper cleaning/restoring and polishing products if need be. And companies that come out and 'restore' the flooring apparently!

We got told the same but I've also seen other snippets on the web where people have used steam mops with no problems. Perhaps it's better to err on the side of caution cos it's not exactly cheap to buy.

Loads of stuff on it here.

Suggests checking the steam mop model, but it should be OK if fitted correctly.

Can I use a Steam Mop or Steam Cleaner on Karndean Designflooring?
If using a Steam Cleaner on your Karndean floor, please check your manufacturer's guidelines to ensure it's suitable for use on Karndean. To clean your floors with ease, Karndean manufactures its own cleaning and maintenance system which has been specifically designed to retain the original aesthetics of your floor without causing damage. For more information about how to care for your Karndean floor please download our Floor Care Guide.

How long has your Karndean been down? I'd be concerned about moisture getting underneath the tiles causing them to lift.
Both Amtico and Karndean cleaning products are the best to use on the relevant flooring. I've seen the effects that steam and general mopping can cause. At great expense to the customer as they didn't check first.

I bought a B&D steam mop from Costco and it has three settings on it - one for vinyl. I use it on our vinyl flooring (which was installed earlier this year) and haven't noticed anything untoward. I did leave it several weeks before first use though and I make sure not to over-do it, or stay in one spot too long.

We use method floor cleaner with the steam mop, current one is the almond flavour makes the whole place smell like marzipan :D

No film or spots and a decent matt finish
