Can you tell me if this version is different to the 2009. I have notice that web pages take longer to download and the KAV icon in the taskbar has an orange star during that download.
Obviously this is good for secrity, but everything takes so much longer.
Do you guys configure it not to scan everything. Does this version perform differently?

I'm only talking about the antivirus BTW

KAV2010 is a major step-up from 2009 imho. Leaner, lighter, easier to work with and fast. The star is usually indicative of an application being analysed by the behavioural engine. You can leave the settings as they are, or else add your browser to the safe list (I wouldn't, personally).

If KAV is slowing you down, perhaps take a look at your hardware. Maybe you'll come back and tell us you have a Core i7 with 16GB RAM, but if KAV2010 is slowing you down, I doubt it. If worst comes to worst, you can always disable the behavioural analysis (program/system monitoring) component and rely on the AV itself. KAV2010 is one of the best AVs you can get, detection/prevention wise, so it's worth sticking with if you can.

Kaspersky 2010 shouldn't be much slower (if any) than 2009. Did you uninstall 2009 before installing 2010 or just update it?

The recent update (a few weeks ago) which takes 2010 to release a.b. should in theory help with some of the slow downs but I'll be honest I've not noticed an improvement as such.

I'm on 9.0.0.463 (b.c)

When I say slow, I mean it can take 5/7 seconds to load IE with Google as Home Page as the phishing icon is on. Other pages can take 10 seconds.
With KAV disabled IE flys into action.
You may say that is not slow. The problem is with every new family of processors etc. we expect everything to be instant. Perhaps being secure is more important.
All I know is that KAV 2010 is slower than 2009 which was also slower than every Norton that I had.
