I recently installed Kaspersky on a 6 month free licence. I have unfortunately found that my VM BB only DL's at 15meg compared to my sons 19 on his laptop through same router.
As an experiment I disabled the AV and found that my DL speed shot up to 18+.
Would it be that the AV is scanning whilst DLing and slowing it down that much. Is it worth that loss for the security benefit. Would a change to another AV be worth it. Prior to Kaspersky I ran NAV for 4 years but this time went for a freebie. That is the only problem that I have although I do find the scans terribly slow and boot up drags on a bit because of boot scans that come in after a delay.
What do you think. I really would like the extra BB speed but do not want to sacrifice security. Cheers
