Ok Kaspersky 6/0 has been released.

I have already upgraded from 5.0 (it's free btw) if you have a valid license key.

So far very impressed, a very nicely put toghether piece of software and apparently has many more features than the older version (in terms of detecting virii)

Only thing atm is one of the updates seems to have a problem and cannot be updated due to an incorrect signature (guess its like a check sum) but it'll probably get fixed soon enough :)

Does this hog system performance? I very much doubt Virus Killer Software can cause people using high spec machines to have performace loss, especially in games. . . . . .

I'm interested in purchasing this, is it better than say NOD32, Avast ??

Its good stuff but yeah its heavy on the ole resources still miles better then norton/mcafee.

I did install version 6 on few pcs and on some sadly its made it 2-3 slower almost point of useless/id say nod32 still gets the prime vote.

Cheers Vader/Boney Maloney, just wondering what sort of spec are you using, do you play games probally a silly question lol & also IF you do, have you noticed any slow down in games or stuttering etc etc. I'm thinking of switching from using AVG Free Edition, I also use Kasperksy Online Free Scanner, Panda ActiveScan Online, Trend Micro HouseCall Virus Scan - online scanners.

Was these low spec machines? Such as Celerons used in general office use or something?

I use it 24/7 with all the gubbins enabled in KAV on an Opty 144 @2.4ghz - 2Gb Ram - 250Gb Hitachi SATA HDD

I play games, do small gfx work etc. don't get any stutter or slow down in games at all.

But then you are able to exclude areas from scanning but to be fair I haven't noticed the need, my system is just as fast with KAV enabled than disabled.

Cool, think I'll purchase Kasperksy 6 in the next few weeks, once my new Conroe setup hardware arrives! :)

My spec is almost the same as yours :) FX-53, Asus A8N Deluxe, 2 gig PC3200 ram, and a Geforce 7800GTX OC. No slow down in games

I noticed no difference in PC performance between NOD32 and Kaspersky (I went through a spate of testing the most recommended to find one I like). I would recommened Kaspersky all the way - best anti virus program I have used, quick and effective and best software purchase for a while.

Thanks for the heads up on version 6 - just installing now.

2.8ghz/1.5 gig I had to uninstall it and stick nod32 on it in end.

I should have noted I installed the latest KAV 6.0 beta however.. so its possible its unstable since its not final code.

Generaly though ive noticed KAV 6 releases (all betas) have performed heaver then nod32, nod32 is like its almost not there on the system so its difficult to beat on that one, mind u KAV picked up few more bugs....

I've been looking (and running) Kaspersky Lab on 2 of my systems with the 30 day trial. Most of the av we have now is due to expire/has expired and I'm looking to go with Kaspersky Lab.

I'm looking to get something that will have enough licences for 6 pc's and possible deal to increase the 1 year subscription. Unfortunately I've email Kaspersky Lab sales twice and only received a reply to my 2nd email pointing me towards techinical dept (which really shouldn't be the case as the question I have asked is definately a sale dept. related matter).

Anybody here suggest which of Kaspersky Lab's products would be best to go for? I might have to get 6 individual licences for the home product but I don't see anywhere to try and increase/extend the 12month's subscription.

I don't know if this helps, but it looks like you will get a discount on license renewal: http://www.kaspersky.com/renew
