Kaspersky AV 6.0

yup I used KAV 6 and love it, ok if yuo set all its features to paranopid it can make life a bit difficult with the amount of times it will warn you about syastem changes etc.

However set on default/low it is brilliant imo :)

Its very good

as VaderDSL said you can set it to watch the regisrty for changes and unusual system processes or just leave it alone and it works very well with great detection rates.

Its also fine for older machines in v6.0 as you can limit the amount of CPU power it can use.

I've just bought this and the only fault I can find with it is that even though its setup to check for updates every hour, when it does update the signatures seem hours old. Plus sometimes if I do it manually it will update, when it should have already updated automatically

so now just to get rid of norton......tbc
Good luck ;)
Use Nortons own removal tool from their site.
It says something when they have to release a special prog just to uninstall they're own *ahem* handywork :p

Using KAV6 here as well. In fact i had 5 for a year before 6 was released. It does what it says on the tin, with little effect on the system. Also in my experience it is top notch at warning of dodgy web pages, which in this day and age is a must.

AMEN...

I use Kaspersky 6 too and its very good indeed, I also changed from Norton and noticed the speed in boot up time and general system performance too.

Tempted to use the anti hacker firewall too but not tried it yet.

10/10 IMO

Can anyone give me the memory usage for the processes created by Kaspersky Internet Security? Looking to get an all in one AV, firewall and anti-spam. TIA! :)

it depends, how many active monitoring bits you have enabled, is it scanning etc. in idle mine used about 6mb at most, and under a full system scan up to maybe 30mb +

Cheers ears, good low usage at idle, now to fork out 40 nuggets :O

It might be £40 now, but next year when you come to renew the liscence it drops to £28. Still more expensive than most, but if you want the best.

Well my Norton AV 2006 subscription ran out a couple of days ago, and put Kaspersky Internet Security 6 on in its place.

Gone from 40Mb free RAM and 42 processes after boot to 80Mb free RAM and 28 processes after boot (it's on a laptop with 256Mb RAM, hence the low free amount.)

Definitely, definitely, definitely better than Norton.

Seems to be much more "clued up" - asking about allowing or denying access to things that Norton would never ask about, like applications launching IE (think it was Spybot) and the integrated anti-spam that actually deletes the contents of the email before it hits the inbox rather than just marking it as spam but leaving it untouched.... (might not even need Mailwasher now!)

WON'T be going back to Norton......

(and what's even better I got it free on a pc mag, and I get 20% off the renewal after the 180 free licence period expires.)
