free update on kaspersky website from IS 2009 to 2010 if you still have licence remaining.

Im glad i switched to kaspersky from trend pc-cillin, trend charge you to upgrade to a new release.

And free with Kaspersky!

some of the new features are rather annoying ... seems to scan a lot quicker though ... it auto recognised my valid license (love you Barclays) and just upgraded without a hitch ... working ok so far!

Just updated my main PC for the hell of it, hopefully it'll get rid of the frequent your databases are out of date messages we seem to get even though the PC is switched on everyday.

Intersting comment regarding the scanning.
2010 uses the same engine and the same definitions as 2009, some modules must have been altered if people are finding a difference in scanning speed.
I haven't upgraded yet, Kaspersky are similar to MS, its always best to await SP1!

- sorry edit, forgot to add

Its worth noting that Kaspersky provide absolutely no support for windows 7 currently, they mark 2010 as currently in compatible with any version of windows7, although many users will be able to use it without issue. Might just be worth noting for those who install the RC and then wonder why their AV refuses to install. They have said they will support windows7 when it is released.

I've also been using KIS 2009 on W7 with no problems.

EDIT: Should put that W7 Security Centre does report that no AV is found though.

KIS 2010 is a nice upgrade from 2009. The engine itself has never been in any doubt, but the GUI is WAY more improved in 2010 imho. It's not dumbed down, but has still been made much clearer and easier to navigate. Win/win! :D I have licenses for NOD32, Avira Antivir Premium, and KIS but I'm going back to KIS every time. NOD32 lets stuff through, Antivir has too many false positives, and KIS just works (for me). Add to that the fact it's only £15 for a 3 user license at OcUK and we have a winrar. I'm using a trial version for now, as I'm hovering between XP Pro x64 and Win7 x64 (just playing around) and don't want to waste activations on my 'real' license :)
