Think this might sound like a 'noob' question, but is there any reason why I should NOT set my internal network to 'trusted'?
One PC thinks it is a normal network and another a public network, and neither will talk to other unless I disable the security.

Setting to trusted works.
I am assuming it is still filtering internet traffic, or does it see that as 'local' network traffic also?

Yes, your local network should be set to trusted. File and printer sharing etc. won't work if it thinks it's a public network.
