hi has anyone else got kaspersky installed i have 2010 version and for some reason every now and again...more now actually it starts to use my processor at 100% and makes the machine unusable for a minute or so....anyone else had this problem thanks.

Long shot - Is it set to scan your system at specified timed intervals that perhaps coincide with this increase in CPU usage?.

i havent set a schedule scan ive had a look and to be honest cant find where it might be and have a scheduled scan, ill keep checking but doesnt look like i do. thanks

no its not got a sceduled scan...to be honest there is a load of stuff like mail anti virus, web anti virus, im anti virus, anti spam and a load more....maybe this is to much for what i need .....

KIS2010 is an excellent AV, try to resolve this before you throw it away. Have you ticked the option to make KIS concede resources to other applications? That way you shouldn't even know it's there. I put the directions in the main AV thread (search for 'concede' in the thread search tool). :)

You can find my post here. :) Tick that box and you should see a major improvement. AFAIK it affects all scanning processes (i.e. real time as well as on-demand). Suck it and see. :D

This is a slightly different problem with Kasperksy I hope the OP doesn't mind. But does anybody find that the "Pause Protection" and "Resume Protection" options take a long time to complete (if that makes any sense)?

ok done that thanks i looked through all them posts as well think ill have to take a trip to specsavers ....thanks again ill see how it goes .

ok done that rebooted and not using 100% cpu upto now which it did before so ill see how it goes now thanks rainmaker for you help...

No probs roachy, glad to be of help. :) Greenlizard0, it takes a couple of seconds but nothing out of the ordinary really. At least that's how it works on my machine?

The 100% cpu is the rootkit scan kicking in 30 minutes after system launch, there is no way to edit this, stop this, or prevent it, some systems get sucked into the voild others bounce along with no impact.
Previous version allowed deactivation of the automatic rootkit scanning subroutinues, 2010 prvents their deactivation, and some systems take a massive hit.
Kaspersky are a ware of the issue, and it will not be hotfixed, it will require a major version update.

If you wish confirmation of this, start a thread on the Kaspersky forums, follow all tehir instructions whilst they blame everythign else on your system before finally settling for the rootkit issue after making you jump through hoops for days. Helpful lot. If you actually want assistance try to contatc Lisa directy at Kaspersky Uk support, and she will prove most helpful if you can get her.

mmm so why dont they do a major update then it in there best intrests to sell future products i would think...thanks for the update mate although it hasnt run at 100% yet since i changed the other thing ranmaker said.

ok found another problem just copying files from a storage card on my phone and bump goes up to 100% cpu usage....how can this be?

Sorry to go off-track but I am about to dump Kas 2009 as it has missed quiet a few trojans lately and the full scans are taking over 15 hrs to complete. Lately I trust the free Malwarebytes more than Kas.
