Just booted up, got Kaspersky on about c:\windows\regedit.exe being infected by "Trojan.win32.pakes.x3"
The System File Protection keeps on about how the file has changed (but keeps telling me my XP CD is the wrong one  :( )

But...Kaspersky is also telling me that the version of regedit.exe on the CD is infected. Obviously not possible.

Anyone else having this problem?

Kaspersky don't seem to have an update that protects against this yet :( (assuming something genuinely is infected.)

Thanks JayMax.

Knew it had to be a false positive since there's no way the one on the CD could be infected, just couldn't see anything on viruslist.com about it. Didn't see the forums either. Thanks for that link.

Kaspersky showed it as being detected but not having an update that covered it, so wondered if anyone experienced it.

Just forced a manual update and now all is well.

Think the SFP whined cause Kaspersky was trying to neutralize it, but it's stopped complaining too now.

:)
