Katie's Revenge

The judge and jury obviously did after hearing all the facts in the case.

I'm sure the verdict was correct but I'm not sure the loss of liberty for abducting, molesting and drowning a 10 year old girl is what I would call justice.

Whilst I share no sympathy with the guy at all, (he will probably sue the prison for failure to protect him.)

I think you guys really need to get a grip on the whole sex offender issue. With people pushing for the right to know about sex offenders in their area do you know that an 18 year old can and will be prosecuted sentence for having sex with his 16 year old girlfriend even if she approves, if the girl's parents decide to bring the case to court.
Or what about an 18 year old and a 15 year old who are in a relationship. This happens and the boy/man is a sex offender and is placed on a sex offenders list. Should he be brutalised in prison? Given the lethal injection? Shot in the head? Where would you draw the line? 15 years and 11 months, 16 years, 17 1/2 or make it 18? Or would you say consentual sex between boy and girl should be made legal?

If me the labelling of people as sex offenders is a grey area.

Do you call the 'branding' justice ?

If so, then do you think it should be included as a punishment by the state, and available to be used by the judge ?

or if not then what is justice in this case and should it not be available to the judge as opposed to being meeted out arbitrarily by other criminals who don't have a very balanced view on the law ?

By the way, if it were my daughter, I would torture him for the rest of his life, but as it's not, I can try and take an objective view.

Should it have happened? No.

Do I give a stuff for the "suffering" of the branded offender? Hang on, while I check the window for squadrons of flying pigs.

I wouldn't advocate this, and I wouldn't do it, but it did happen and I'm beggared if I can raise an iota of sympathy for the bloke. That is reserved for Katie and her family.
