A family member has 3 z1300's , 2 are fuel injection UK bikes and one is a carb'd model US bike (kz1300) . The 1982 KZ1300 was bought in a non running condition, only 12000 miles on the clock but it has no spark, so looking for other ideas than what ive already done... when I say it has no spark, it kinda does.. when you hit the start button the spark plug sparks only twice (quite faint) then just stops even with the button still pressed in, the starter motor turns over fine, release the button, try again and itll spark twice.... . it doesnt matter which of the 6 cylinders i try for a spark, theyre all the same.
so far:
-replaced all 3 coils (brand new and even tested on the other 1300's, so known to work)
-new spark plugs
- bypassed the resistor pack to the coils
-sent ignitor away to the netherlands for test/repair.. was tested and was given the OK
- bypassed the frames wiring loom between the ignitor and coil packs
-checked for continuity from the pickups to the ignitor
-bypassed the ignition kill switch
-bypassed original wiring for earth points and 12v to ignitor
- done all the tests in the z1300 repair/maintenance manual with regards to no spark, and all came back ok.
any other ideas appreciated
