Kebabs - North/South Difference?

Then you have no tastebuds.

I can handle people claiming no difference between kebabs. There is no doubt in the slightest that the best fish and chips comes from the North. Specifically the North East coast.

North East Yorkshire or North East England?.. as in, Durham/Northumberland etc.

I think it was Whitby or Scarborough where I had some AMAZING fish and chips.

North East Yorkshire and North East England is the same place. Anything further north is nearly-sweaty.

uk's best chippy is in Scotland and 10th place is in devon. It' silly to think north has better fish and chips. It's the same as kebabs totally depends on the chippy. Although being on the coast certainly helps. Best chippy I've tried is in Plymouth.

I've been to places in the likes of Anstruther and other places around the Fife coast when I visited St Andrews regularly with fish shops that outdid all the north easts fish shops in the likes of North Shields, Whitley Bay, South Shields, Sea Houses even.

The northeast is extremely defensive over everything from the area, you can't even criticise Ant and bleeding Dec!

There is a kebab restaurant in Harrods on the luggage floor, shocked when I saw it even had 'elephants leg' there :) not tried it but looks nice but very expensive - must try it one day!

Bosphorous in South Kensington, Golden Grill on Camberwell Green are my choice for kebabs in London. There's also a place near to Camden station that does kebabs but in a tortilla (wrap) which are alright too. :)

I can certainly vouch for the golden grill also. Their chicken kebabs are amazing.

Can everyone stop saying it is somehow proper to have it with nan - they are not eaten in Turkey at all!

Whether it's proper or not, the fact remains that kebab in naan >> kebab in pita.

That's the bad thing about southern kebab shops, most of them tend to favour pita for their kebabs.
I have found a local place that does a great doner in naan now though, so all is good.

In Bangor there was a special of a 'cheeseburger kebab' which was basically a normal cheeseburger in a bun but on top of the cheese it had doner meat scraped onto it. It was one of the best things I'd ever eaten (at 2am when hammered.....)

When I get drunk I sometimes go and ask them to make it in various outlets wherever I am. And in Scotland the cheeseburger is battered too....!
