I have a friend from the states who is planning to possible study in England, the only problem is that they can only study in certain places otherwise his uni wont sponser him. He is a Biochem major, so is looking for chemisty and biochem courses. The most suitable option he could use seems to be Keele University and he would like to know as much about it as possible. Can anyone provide any information on anything and everything about it?

Out of curiosity, what are the other 'certain locations' as you put it? I don't know much about Keele, but it would be a good idea to find out where else he could go.

Keele's not in a bad part of Stoke, but Stoke does definately have a lot of bad parts. It does have OcUK though :p

Yeah, any information would be welcome. I wouldn't want him to come all this way and not get a good education as well as a good experience.

It's not in a good part of Stoke either as it isn't in Stoke, it's in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Can't say much about the Uni as I have never been there, in a learning sense, but I don't think the place is in a bad area at all.

NB: I may be biased as I live less than 5 mins away.

If i was going to travel thousands of miles to learn in a different country, Keele university would be at the very bottom of my list. The campus is infested with little scrotes from the surrounding area asking you "got 15p bruv?". The buildings look old and dingey, inside and out.

Tell us the other options he has for his study.

Not very often you see Keele mentioned on here. In my fourth year here, loved it so far. Granted Keele is a little "middle of nowhere" and often referred to as the "Keele bubble" but it has its moments;. Granted Stoke isnt that nice. Keele really shines in the summer! In terms of night life, theres two neighbouring towns (Newcastle and Hanley) and Brum and Manchester are 30 or so mins away by train.

. . . but Newcastle-under-Lyme is in Stoke itself?!

Negatory.

Keele is a good university, massive campus with nothing around it for a few miles so as long as you like grass...and walking he should be fine. Not much of a nightlife though, Hanley and Newcastle are generally awful areas for nightlife imho. They do get some gem's of gigs at the union there (which is basically a shed). Saw Pendulum there last year.

My daughters who are 20 and 18 think Hanley and especially Newcastle are wonderful nightlife areas.
Makes you wonder what people expect.
