Keep desktop icons in place (Windows 7)

Hi,
I use Windows 7 on my work laptop, so am constantly switching between single and dual monitor setups. Whenever I change, all of my desktop icons get moved back to the left of the screen.

Is there any way to keep them in place?

I used to use a tool called Ultramon that has a save and restore Icon desktop positions, there might be better (and free) tools for it out there though.
