Keep getting alerts/intrusions

A friend of mine keeps getting alerted by Norton that someone or something are trying to get into her computer. What's the best way to stop this? Is it as simple as changing IP?

Best advice you can give him is to ditch Norton to be honest.

It's as simple as setting whatever firewall you use to NOT notify you of the attempts.
