Firstly here are my specs:

Display Memory: 5870 MB
Dedicated Memory: 2030 MB
Shared Memory: 3840 MB

Its a 7870ghz edition card.

Ive been trying to play FF14 and randomly it will go to a black screen and I get no audio and have to press the reset button on my PC.

All the drivers are up to date and I also ran Windows own memory tool and it reported no issues.

The temps on my gpu on load hit around 50c and the gpu is not overclocked.

Ive got no clue on how to run memtest, tried doing this iso thing but no luck and cannot find my usb stick at the moment :-(

I built the system myself as with all computers that I have built for myself and others and this system is a bit old.

CPU is on stock settings, cpu temps are around 30-35c on idle given that its been on for a good few hours.

Ive checked everything I can check, the PSU is a 750w Corsair V2.

Any help would be appreciated!

This is the only recent crash dump I have, and was the same time it went black screen so I am guessing its from that.

Crash dump directory: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump

Myself personally I would be tempted to start a fresh install and make sure only the drivers and applications I want are installed.

If it's overclocked then restore this to stock, also maybe worth trying to reduce the factory overclock on the graphics card.

Hi,

I did all that previously, fresh install.

What I have done is downclock the card (it was on stock settings anyways) I also have the CPU on stock settings not overclocked.

I found quite a few articles on the net about issues with the 7870 which is worrying however the issue only arose recently as I barely touched my pc for gaming as I always play on consoles.

I will see how things go today with the downclock, if all goes well then its the card and I will try and see what I can do about it.

Considering a x4 B50 is an unlocked dual core and WHEA errors are usually unstable cpu i would increase your Vcore.

Hi,

In Asus Suite 2 I have manually set the CPU voltage to 1.45, it was on 1.4.

The following are stock settings: dram voltage is on 1.65 and CPU/NB voltage is on 1.2.

I have also set the CPU Power Phase control to EXTREME for performance.

I appreciate all the help hopefully the above is ok or do I need to make other changes?

Forgot to mention my cpu was a dual core but I have it unlocked so its 4.

Just when I thought everything was ok again with the black screen, the CPU is not overclocked, cores are all unlocked and have upped the v core.
GPU has been downclocked by 50mhz on memory and gpu clock.

Its weird because sometimes I can game for hours and no probs, then sometimes randomly within an hour.

Its extremely annoying as when playing Final Fantasy 14 online and I am in a dungeon the worst time is when its a long quest and im half way through and I just get the black screen.

Ive tried googling it but everyone else seems to have audio but I don't when I get a black screen :-(

Can anyone here please shed some light on what it could be or do I need to go build a whole new rig? This is why I moved away from PC gaming theres too much hassle, headache, cost and issues with PC gaming :-(
