Keep getting pwned on Warcraft III

me and my friends all bought it the other day and were hoping for some Man on LAN action and unfortunately we suck so much at it that we can't even beat the computer on easy.

I think our problem is we don't really know what we're supposed to be doing, no matter how big our armies are, we constantly get pwned by the computer. Some how his hero unit seems to be of a much higher level than ours and i have no idea where he's killing all these monsters.

Some basic tips would be great thanks

Tip #1) Complete the campaign. Firstly its great fun, 2nd it will show you the strengths and weaknesses of all the units. Assuming you got frozen throne, do that too.

Tip #2) Play against each other first, get to know the creep spawns and how to manage it so that your units dont die to creeps. Its a lot cheaper to heal the unit than build a new one.

Tip #3) AI probably has more income than you, get at least 6 workers to be getting gold for you if poss, 5 for NE/UD. UD can build on a goldmine without anything else near it, best thing ever.

Tip #4) Whilst you're off fighting some creeps and levelling your hero, make sure your buildings are still doing stuff, if you have over 1k gold youre doing something wrong. If need be, bind buildings to hotkeys too so that you can produce what you lose ahead of schedule.

You never need more then 5 workers on gold for any race, unless you've built your town hall too far away

thanks for that, im guessing creeps are like Troggs, Furbolgs, Murlocs, Spiders etc etc?

I think our main problem is we don't know what units to use, we finally managed to beat the computer 4v2 on easy but it seemed that it was just a case of spamming the units which cost like, 7 food.

How many heroes should you use?

I in no way consider myself to be a good wc3 player, but ive seen a few high skill games and a friend of mine is one of the larger shoutcasters.

Personal experience has taught that some locations benefit from 1 extra worker as orcs, but it will vary on map and start loc.

Creeps are non player creatures, you'll have 1 or 2 spawn points near your base, then you have to expand quickly with your hero to get the mid level creep locations before your opponent does, or even better let him get there first and kill/damage him mid fight.

One key thing ive been taught though is: A unit on 1hp does the same amount of damage as a unit on full hp, learn to manage your units to do maximum damage
