Between myself and the missus, we have an xbox 360, PS2, N64 and Sega megadrive, and without fail the one console we keep going back to is the N64. I don't know whether its childhood nostalgia or not, but of the various platforms this one definitely seems to have the best back catalogue associated with it. The missus is currently playing through Zelda - Ocarina of Time, and its still as fresh as ever. I played through the Zelda game on the Wii a few years back, and its good, its just not blow your socks off great, and it doesnt add anything new. When your playing on the N64 and your thinking 'man, this was the first game that did this properly, i can see parts of this game that went into games for generations to come. This was THE game that defined a generation.'

So, nostalgia or genuine brilliance? Do you guys find yourselves going back to older generation consoles?

I keep going back to Ocarina of Time, got the N64 Version but the sticks are loose now. Instead I'm using a gamecube controller playing the Gamecube version on a Wii D: Need to get a decent N64 Controller.

It is genuine brilliance.

yep N64s are great i keep on playing mario and goldeneye emulated but still wantng to get an n64 properly....must sort out my dc collection first though

I find for single player experiences I can not beat it! Relived the classic zelda's on it and now its time for rayman2 and mystical ninja :)

It's got all the classics

Star Fox 64 is the reason I would always go back to the N64.

It's just such an amazing game in the on-rails space shooter genre and it's a shame to me that the newer Star Fox incarnations are just not as good and don't capture that same epic feel. The upcoming 3DS re-release pretty much says something about that too.
