Enough is enough! I NEED to fix this before i break my keyboard in two!

Internet explorer forgets all my login (cookies?) details ALL the time! It's not even regular. It happens randomly, sometimes within a few hours and sometimes it will store them for a few days. I am so sick of having to log back in to forums, facebook, ebay etc etc almost every day and sometimes multiple times a day!

I have tried to set privacy settings to accept all cookies but that didn't work. I've searched for a solution on google and found nothing. I can't be the only one.

Please help :(

Do you happen to have any spyware/malware/registry cleaner software or something running. It's a long shot but some app could in theory be removing temporary files to clean your computer

Good shout. I thought this at first, till I remembered I was being daft and it was Spybot that was doing it after running the immunise part. :p

Isn't it normal for it to do this? I've logged into places using IE on many different machines running different versions and its been the same for all of them where by it will 'forget' the login details and so you have to retype them in again at random intervals.

Not unless you have requested it to save the details (usually the tick box when logging in). Or if you get IE to remember the log in details.

I had the same problem a while ago - made no difference what OS (Vista/7 RC/7 HP), and I made a thread on here a while ago, IE kept forgetting passwords, usually when restarting my machine. It's been alright for the past few weeks - but everynow and then it will forget, unfortunately I have no answer :(

I think IE has a setting to auto delete internet history/temp files on startup .A solution would be to use Ccleaner , there is an option to save your required cookies . I use it and when you run Ccleaner ,naturally it removes all the unwanted stuff but save's your forum cookies etc.I'm using Firefox , but it should work with IE too.

I used to have the same problem, it would remember fine for a week or two then forget most logins.
I would reset them and a few days later it forgets them again.

I did find a fix but I can't remember exactly what it was, I think it was something odd like time or location not being exactly correct.

I have had this since IE8 was released, so have many others on the net if you google for it.

For years I have just stuck with IE cos tbh i dont use all the advanced stuff in Firefox et al. But this bug in IE8 has finally pushed me over to Chrome.

There are tonnes of "fixes" out there, but from what I can tell, the fact of the matter is, there is a bug in IE8's cookie blocking/flushing code and no one seems to be recognising it at MS. So I've given up :)

Sorry that's not of much help, but I really don't think there is a fix. Some people either don't login enough in enough places to experience it, or genuinely don't seem to experience it. Others, like you and I do and can't stop it.

Swap browsers is my only suggestion sadly.

Strangely, we already mentioned that IE was in fact the problem, but the posts were deleted.

You mentioned (or in your case, quoted) Internet Explorer was the problem simply because it's Internet Explorer and not because there may well be an actual problem in Internet Explorer like Manic_man has mentioned in his post here.

The following quote is what you had quoted:

internet explorer? that's your problem right there.

Posting (or quoting) something such as the above does not help anyone and is considered trolling which is why those posts which you are referring to where removed. I'm sure if it was any other browser, you would have either not posted or posted something along the lines of what everyone else has posted which is much more useful to Sir Hiss (the original thread starter).

I'm not disputing the fact that Internet Explorer isn't the problem but going by the post above which you quoted, you weren't aware that there was actually a problem with Internet Explorer's "cookie blocking/flushing code". The reason why you quoted the post above is because it's Internet Explorer - "one of the worse pieces of software you will come across" (or for whatever other reason you don't like it).

If you had said something along the lines off:

I believe there is a problem in Internet Explorer's code which means every so often you are automatically logged out of websites which you have signed into. Microsoft have yet to fix this problem so my only suggestion would be to change web browsers for the time being.

Similar to Manic_man's post.

Any posts which simply say "change to (insert web browser name here)" or stating that the web browser you are using is actually the problem (simply because you don't like that particular web browser) without indicating what that problem may be in a manner such as the post above which was removed in web browser related problem threads will be removed. If you have nothing constructive to add, please do not post. If you are unhappy about this and wish to discuss it further, feel free to contact me or someone else part of the moderating team via email. Thank you. :)
