Keep icons arranged in Finder

When I open a folder in Finder, be it pictures, files or whatever I can't seem to find a way to keep the icons arranged when I resize the window.

If I have icons of photos in a folder, when I resize the window or change the icon preview size I have to right click and click "Arrange by..." to make it arrange by kind or name etc. Is there a way to make OSX auto-rearrange things when I resize the window etc?

Yes, open a Finder windows and right click and select Show View Options. In the little windows that comes up you can select the size, grid spacing, and how to arrange the files you have in that particular folder. You can then click on the Use as Defaults button at the bottom of this window, that way every folder should have these same settings.

The desktop you would have to do separately if I think back to setting mine up.
