keep lan connection connected but disable internet access

Hi all, is there a way to stay connected to a network but not allow any internet traffic over that connection?

I'm connected to 2 networks and I know I can use the option to prioritise one of the connections over the other but if the connection with the VPN goes down I do not want the traffic to be sent over the other connection.

Normally you handle that at a router level, so perhaps tell us what we’re dealing with router/client wise?

From previous threads it's an EdgeRouter I believe.

Yeah its an Edgerouter X
I've been tinkering this morning but haven't the hang of it yet. what ever I'm doing allows local access but stops access for all other devices to the internet also.
