Hi I have an old mechanical hard drive with 150Gb of data used on it but I also have a ssd as a main drive (os on m.2) with 650Gb free, so the stuff on the mechanical drive is just stuff that I cant be bothered going into the server for (music, photos). so do I just keep this for storage or ditch it and put the files on the ssd. reason is my son says the mechanical one will be slowing the pc down and why keep old hardware when I have a new ssd, any help ?
Thanks

ditch it! get the files on the ssd.
Took my last mechanical drive (2tb) out earlier this year replaced with a cheap kingston 480gb ssd

As long as it's not your main drive, it won't be 'slowing your system down', but it will be making it louder and hotter.

Thanks I cleaned it out and unplugged it but left it in place as I thought a good a place as any to store it
