Have just got a netbook through work @ £149.99 specs as follows

Packard Bell 111

Atom N455
1gb
250gb hdd

Have the oppourtunity to exchange for a laptop at £250 specs as follows

HP G56 100-SA

AMD V140
3GB
320GB HDD

Which is the better value?, netbook was bought on a whim really as it was so cheap I've got the netbook but thinking about swapping up to the laptop. Will only be using for Facebook and emails really. Just thinking about a laptop for the bigger screen/keyboard really. Although it is another £100 to spend.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

Tom

Notebook will give you a bigger keyboard and screen. Furthermore, you will get 2 GB of extra RAM memory. With 1 GB of RAM memory you will not be able to have several tabs open in you web browser, unless you close everything else. Web browsers can take more than 500 MB of ram easily. Moreover, a better processor will allow you to use applications like Skype etc. Go for it ;-)

I dont mean to intrude but to me, this statement is utterly incorrect.

My Acer Aspire One D255 had 1GB RAM, i could have several tabs open, and run skype in the background with msn and a word document without lagg.

Depends on the CPU too as most Netbooks today are budging to Dual Core - Tegra 2, Fusion and some low end i3 chips however im unsure if AMD Fusion/Zacate platform netbooks are dual cores :/.

If your not worried about the slight increase in weight, go with the laptop, you will have a larger viewing experience and be able to do some more intensive tasks :)
