keep network but stop web access in OS 10?

Hi there,

I'm a Mac newbie and have a friend who wants to keep access to her network drive for music she plays in her bar but wants to stop the bar staff from surfing the web.

can anyone help with this?

She has tiger i believe - so you can only uninstall the browsers on macs to restrict access unless you buy parental control software

yeah the fallback position - I was hoping not to have to block all web traffic from the Macs IP ideally as she may like to log on as herself and surf but have a restricted account for her staff.

Remove dns servers from resolv.conf then create login for them that can not sudo.

Should work. You can get a demo of Little Snitch I believe...

Don't need to buy anything - just set the proxy address for HTTP and HTTPS to loopback to 127.0.0.1 in network preferences.
