A friend as just gave me his 8600 gts 256mb as he as got himself a ATI 4870, I was wondering if my 7950 gt 512mb is any faster than the 8600 gts, or shall i just sell the 8600 towards a ATI 4770.

Benchmark the two and see if the 8600 has any edge, if so, theres your answer! :)

If you game on par with today's current standards then I'd sell the cards you have and get something with a bit more horse power.

Sell it and get a 4770. The 8600GTS is around as fast as the 7950GT but the memory interface is only 128-bit, and it's not really fast enough to deal with DX10.

The 8600GTS just about edges it over the 7950GT according to THIS although there is not much in it really.

If I were you I'd sell them both and get a decent video card.

tbh the 7950gt felt a lot smoother in games, but 1 game feels better on 8600gts which is weird, anyway ill sell the 8600gts, but i have to keep the 7950gt to keep me going untill i get the new card. thanks peeps
