Hi all,

I know that keepass store db locally, but is there a way to read/write to the db file using google drive or dropbox using android.

Also how secure would it be to store the file as is. would it be best to encrypt the db using something like veracrypt

many thanks

I used to use KeePassDroid, but it was a pain.

Storing the file as it is would be fine as it's encrypted itself already. You could also protect it with a private key which you transfer to your phone (not through DropBox or Google Drive) so if someone did get hold of the kdb, they wouldn't be able to get in without a password and private key file.

If you want true, easy password sync between devices, use LastPass.

yeah same im using keepassdroid. but i need the file store locally on my android. which is annoying because i always need to update my file from my computer nas drive to keep a current up to date copy.

I heard bad things about lastpass and i dont like the idea of third party company holding my passwords. i prefer decentralised

I use KeePass this way - the password protected database in my dropbox and an encryption .key file stored locally on devices I use.
I also use Keepass2Android and never had any issues with it, but don't use it that often tbh.
As Craig123 says above, keepass has dropbox app integration.

It all works fine for me, no issues at all.

Keepass2Android user here. No problems syncing with Dropbox.

One thing worth mentioning is that the clipboard is not a safe way to enter passwords on Android. I don't know about other apps but Keepass2Android has a built in keyboard that can enter usernames and passwords directly into forms.

One other thing, if you're not confident enough in the security of the keepass database, such that you want to encrypt it a second time before putting it in the cloud, then you shouldn't be confident enough using it at all.

Your data is stored on your machine locally then encrypted before being sent to Lastpass. They never know your master password etc because it is never sent to them.

Another vote for last pass.

Keepass is great, but I needed something more fluid and Lastpass gives me that whilst a high level of security. Maybe not as secure as Keepass in an encrypted folder, but it's dam near close as...
