Hi, I've got an HP laptop sitting here, I'm going to be taking it on the plane to Turkey, it's around a 3 1/2 hour flight. I timed it today, I wanted to play FM on the journey, and on the high performance setting, but with brightness turned right down, it can go for almost 2 hours.

Is there any way to increase this time, without too much performance sacrifice? It's running vista business

Thanks!

Shutdown all unnecessary processes. If you're going to be doing a lot of travelling then you might want to invest in a spare battery or see if you can replace your existing battery with a better one.

You could try defragging your hard drive, running CCleaner to fix any registry issues and clear out various temp files, if you're going to be offline during the flight then you could deactivate any anti-virus/anti-spyware/firewall software you may have installed. Running the sound through a pair of headphones rather than the speakers might make a difference.

I wouldn't of thought that any of this would make a huge difference but you never know. Good luck.

just dropping to 75% brightness and a balanced profile should make a big difference

remember tho, your gonna have 30 mins for takeoff/landing where you cant even use it anyway - and if FM = Football Manager, surely it does not need much performance anyway??!
