We're not quite that bad, though you'll be pleased to know abovenet killed one of our fibre spans today (i hate being on call  ). Cue much running around london enabling alternative routes...

I used to be in Ops and was oncall for over 3 years looking after Goswell Road, the other Gateway in Aldgate and all the PoP sites in London.Nothing like going to Telehouse or Redbus at 3am on a Sunday morning.

A company called UK Webhosting Ltd - we entered the fold recently through your recent acquisition :). It's only a very small contract.

Wow, I spoke to you the other day about some anomalous traffic on your BGP session, small world indeed...

(ah - you're Adam! - I just checked trust...)

Spoke/emailed...

EDIT: Obviously as a customer you'll be pleased to know I'm sacrificing my sunday to beat some sense into abovenet :p (done now, they managed to mix up the transmit and recieve fibres in HEX... )

it's not what i expect of a tier 1 provider (especially not on a sunday ;) )

they managed to mix up the fibres when they were splicing them into a new termination point rather than in patching, so i'm a little disappointed...

I have to agree with above, get another body in, best way as you can pass the dross onto them and do the chillin stuff yourself.
I follow the excel/some word and lots of visio route for documentation and use the sharepoint basic helpdesk to log all calls.

i could get a copy on monday maybe, i don't think theres anything obvious we'd need to take out before posting it. We wanted tripwire but it's unsupported and a pain to get working these days.

Any chance of this being posted still :)
