Keeping RAM in spec improve overclock?

Hi. I've been messing around with my overclock again by playing around with the base clock. Now before I would always set my RAM (RAM @ 1600Mhz) multiplier to the lowest it would go, whilst I increase my BCLK, so that the RAM freq would never go over 1600Mhz.

Now this might sound stupid, but is it possible for ram to fail if the speed is set too low say 1000Mhz, even though its rated @ 1600,2000,2200 etc? with a high CPU overclock say 4Ghz+?

Thanks.

Nope you won't have any problems at all, especially if you leave timings on auto.

My rig in sig is clocked to 4ghz, but my memory is at 1200mhz, with tight timings, as i can't notice the difference between that and 1600mhz in day to day use.
