Just wondering what's the best way to do this.

I'm selling a 3 week old laptop that has Windows 7 on it. Obviously, it'll have some of my personal details on the hard drive. I want to wipe the hard drive before selling.

Is there anyway of keeping W7 on there. There was a partition on the hard drive when I bought it with some sort of 'rescue' on it. There was no physical rescue disk.

Also, the Windows 7 key is on the sticker on the underside of the laptop.

Cheers.

Implement the recovery partition. Best way is to google the maker and recovery partition.

Could be either an application in windows, or a hot key sequence on powerup. Or both!

You could also download a Win7 iso which I think I've seen hosted on the MS site somewhere and use the key you've got

Many laptop manufacturers expect their customers to burn their own recovery DVD. A stupid, stupid idea as the average computer user hasn't a bloody clue and never bothers! Rant aside, check what software is on the laptop and take a look at anything that mentions backup and recovery.
