I recently got hold on a keg, its pretty big... and i was thinking of converting it into a file server. But i am wondering how to go about such a build, as i have not done something like this before. I think i have decided to cut into it i am going to use a grinder. But my problem is mainly supporting the motherboard and stuff inside. Also should i cut a back panel for the motherboard in the top or on the side?

If possible can anyone give me advice on builds like this, or even links.

I'd lay it out with horizontal shelves inside the keg (stood vertically). Cleave the keg in two vertically, hinge it, and fix the shelves to one side of the keg. It'll be really easy to work on, and pretty simple to design!

Are we talking metal or an old wooden keg here? If it's an old one with a tap, massive kudos if you can hook up a pump and be able to pour pints from your PC case...

Would you trust your computer to control your beer though? You might come home late one night to find it making funny noises while overclocking itself to pictures of pink cases with their side panels off!! :p
