says no. btw not sure how important this is but judging by your needs i'd guess you ought to know - that panel, like a lot of e-ips panels (not E-ips) is 6-bit, not 8-bit like a lot of the ips panels designed for the highest-end colour reproduction. it makes up for it somehow i think but yeah, this panel is almost multi-functional due to low input lag and good response time. not the very cream of the crop for colour though. also has lower viewing angles than more expensive ips technologies. it's still very good though. the above review rates it highly. if you follow their calibration settings you would reach as close to photo accuracy as possible at any rate

Unfortunately there is a fair bit of variability with LCD monitors and the Dell U2412M is certainly no exception. Using somebody elses settings on a different monitor and system is really not good enough if you really need a high degree of accuracy. The Kelvin settings that the U2412M provides in the 'Color Temp' preset are actually very good for 6500K or warmer points. There is absolutely no substitute for calibrating using your own hardware to make sure colours and gamma is all balanced properly though.

ah yeah true. plus you're supposed to do it yourself anyway because your own room is bound to have different light sources and different light levels, etc. i guess i was just thinking about me. i copy peoples' settings since i'm lazy and such... though obviously a photographer wouldn't... ^^"

I have a Spyder 2 calibrater as I use photoshop 5 a heck of a lot. Therefore it is easier to have a monitor that has a Kelvin setting than one with rgb, so I can easily set the gamma to 2.2 with the spyder. Takes ages using rgb.

My monitor at moment is the 24" DGM bought on OC when it first came out.
In photoshop when open, it now shows a bit of burn in, but you can't see it on desktop.
Also this morning the monitor started up and started flickering/flashing with some horizontal/vertical colour bars. Did this until it reached the startup screen. Win7 is the OS.
First time this has happened.
This is why I be looking for a Good monitor with 5 or 2ms that's GOOD for photoshop and other things. My 22" Samsung which is older is still going strong.
Also buying the Components for New PC shortly.
Thanks

Hi PorkyPieCat
Clicked your link and read it all. Great reading. Thank You.

A pity the U2410 is expensive, there again though, the dell U2412M is pretty good according to that reveiw. In fact, the Black point is far better on this one (U2410M) even though it's only 95% gammut, than on the more expensive one. Don't make sense that seeing as the expensive one is for photographers. Also the U2410M has a 16:10 screen just like my DGM has, which is far, far Better for photography than a 16:9.
So looks like I shall buy the Dell U2410M. Unless of course you or others know of a better 16:10 monitor that's Good for photography but NOT expensive.
Thanks
