Recently, this guy released the new Gymkhana 3 video on Youtube.

What do you think about him, do you think its right to pretty much abandon the hardcore racing crowd in favor of having a good time and showing off?

As most of you guys probably know, he is yet to finish within the points in a race in the WRC despite a top car and team. This leaves him stone dead last in the championship, which makes him seem like he is just messing around there.

As for the Gymkhana videos, well.... I really like them, and they show what can be done with a car.

Anyway, whats your view??

He's found something he is great at and taking advantage. Nothing wrong with that.
Who knows, they might make something out of it in future, kinda like that xgames head to head

Gymkhana will never work as a competition, there are always quicker ways and they will never look as fun, and if judged on style it probably wouldn't get the same following.

I like him, I think he's awesome and who cares about rally results - he's probably just out there having fun.

My IT manager in St Paul, MN used to race against him in local rally events a few years ago and his opinion is pretty much this :

good stunt driver/performer, rubbish racing driver

Didn't stop drifting becoming competitive. It won't get a huge following but it could look good!

Well I wish I had his driving skills and the opportunity to drive like a maniac around courses/circuits etc. :p

:p

What Block does is Gymkhana in a way (I think his first vid was titled 'practice'), except he's clearly not doing it for times as it is done in competitive forms, he's just out to make a lot of tyre smoke and noise in his videos. Don't get confused though and think gymkhana is all about lary powerslides everywhere in 650bhp monster cars, it's not.

Great driver, better than anybody on here, and not worth discussing any further.

Thats quite an assumption - theres more than a few motorsport drivers who frequent this place.

Anyway, I'm better than him by the virtue that I have driven many more miles than he has - no substitute for experience & all that ! :p:D:D:D:rolleyes:
