Kentsfield incoming...

I doubt kentsfield will reduce the pricing of conroe, only when the 'lower clocked' versions of kentsfield are released will there be any price drops of the core2duo range, the QX will retail around the price of the x6800, probably more, so as there is no direct replacement for the e6300-6700 range intel have little reason to drop the prices imo. I'd like a kentsfield but for nothing more than some e-willy waving as I simply have no need for quad core nor any software that will take advantage of it.

the replacement for E series conroes is coming out in January, so since there are going to be replacements for the E series then the prices will fall I expect

@ jabbs people get excited about this sort of thing because it is an advancement in technology, something interesting, its about what can be achieved with modern technology, I do not go out and buy all the latest and greatest components but i am still excited about how these CPUs will perform, they may be pointless now but in 6 months have multiple CPUs will be anything but pointless

Don't get me wrong its a pretty exciting achievement i was just saying it won't be usefull to a lot of people atm.

It's always nice to see new techs coming out, however personally I'm just hoping it'll mean a drop in Conroe prices as I really have no need for quad core.

Really need to win the lottery!!!

So many great things to blow cash on!

Quad core + R600 crossfire... i wish!!! :(

Gotta be realistic! Like Ex-RoNiN says - quad core + jan sales = cheaper dual cores! :D

displacing 110w, I don't know if its a great candidate for servers. I'm inclined to agree with Devious, wait for the 45nm parts, my [email protected] will churn along nicely for another 12 or1 18 months I think. If intel's plans at the recent IDF are realised we could see up to 8 cores in that timeframe.
