Kentucky Route Zero

I bought this game yesterday and it's freaking stupid. It's not even a game, you just randomly click on stuff and read loads of text. I was expecting something like Broken Sword, just a bit weirder.

Edit: WTF, I just finished it in just over an hour. I should have bought The Walking Dead!

I'm pretty disappointed but thanks for the heads up.
(I wholeheartedly recommend The Walking Dead, the puzzles are a bit too simple but the story and voice acting are first class.)

Cheers, I mentioned The Walking Dead since, AFAIK, it's similar in that the story/writing is more important than the gameplay. In the case of Kentucky Route Zero, I had read how smart the game was, but in fact it's just like you are reading an interactive but uninteresting book. You can make choices like whether to cough or whistle, but it has no effect on the game, so you are just clicking text.

to be honest there are a few moments where I felt like the Walking Dead is like that, but it's blended amongst some superb moments (in fact now I almost feel bad mentioning it!)

Can't say too much but one of the chapters still lingers on in my quiet moments and I finished it many weeks ago. Can't ask for much more than that!

Thanks, saves me wasting time looking at it :D

Bought this a while back but just got round to playing it, I'm on Act II now. Really enjoying it, it's weird...very weird, and often you don't really know what's going on, but I quite like that. The art style is fantastic, the use of sound and music is brilliant, and it doesn't seem linear either, there's a lot of choice as to where you go and what you do although it's not always clear whether that makes a difference to anything or not. But then, I think it's more about you making choices for yourself, rather than doing it to get anything specific in return from the game.

I'm tempted, but will the final part come before or after HL3?

No idea, honestly doesn't bother me! It's one of those games where waiting between the acts is absolutely fine, it makes you appreciate each act more and it's probably be a bit too much to play through in one go anyway. It's kind of weird.

Wait, I've just noticed I've had this in my library since 1 Jan 2015! lol

Do I play it now or wait for EPV??

It was two years between Act III and Act IV, so I'd just get on with it now. There's no reason to wait and play it all in one continuous go, it's not that sort of game.

After about 7 years, the fifth and final act of the wonderfully weird and surreal Kentucky Route Zero has been released. Can't quite believe it's taken this long, but in a weird way it's been quite nice always having it in the back of my mind all these years. Really looking forward to playing it through from start to finish.

They've included the individually released interludes with the new update too.
