Just a quick question to the owners of kepler.

When i try and run unigine heaven it lags for few seconds, and fps drops massively. Even if i let it run for a bit and do the benchmark it still does that. My guess its down to the dynamic OC of the kepler which is annoying as %*$% becouse i didnt have such problem on 7970.

Can anyone assist with this?

you mean every kepler does that? heavy lag on both 670's i tested, but lag free on 7970. My guess its down to the card OC'ing hence causes the lag, becouse after that its lag free. dark tunnel with a torch, is also lag free, but not all the time

Every GPU does it. My bro has a 7970 and it does it at the start the same as mine, hence why you always see a minimum fps of ~30. For the rest it is real smooth on my 680.

It's not caused by the boost. I've tested with boost disabled and a forced 980 clock speed. Happens on all my older cards too. It's some other kind of bottleneck within the card, being unable to dump out frames quickly while data is being prefilled. If the 7970 doesn't suffer, the extra memory and higher memory bandwidth may be why.

I tend to get 2 places of FPS drops, first is at the beginning of the bench, though not always, and the other is on the dark tunnel area as already mentioned.

I've had this with all my cards, 470, 580, 670, 7950 & 7970 :)

but i noticed a massive difference between tiny lag on 7970 and massive on 670 sli, could it be that i ****ed up sli somehow? bridge in place, assuming it doesnt matter which way you put it. SLI enabled, physx - cpu. monitor plugged into main card and set to 120mhz. games is the same, few lags at start but then all butter

even a 690 does it. what score did you get on the offical 3.0 settings that we all use?

in regards to the score, which i think is not a bad score even though thats max i could oc cards to. Still, that lag issue is weird, haven't had it on any of the cards i owned, maybe its sli, not entirely sure. It feels like cards are underclocked and then once it needs it, they are ramped up by gpu to max, hence the terrible lag
