Kernal Power error... is this PSU related

I have had several random system crashes, ever since I built my systems really. Very sporadic, but I checked my Windows (8.1) Event Viewer today and I have 108 incidents of a Kernel Power fault, Event ID: 41, Task Category: (63), Level: Critical. These date ALL the way back to when my system was built... I never realised. It's the only 'Critical' level fault I seem to have had.

I was reading elsewhere online about this being a PSU fault. Is that the problem here? Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

That just means the computer shut off without warning. I'd say its more a hardware fault, gpu, cpu, ram could be anything.

EVGA Super Nova G2 850w, Asus X99-S, 5820k, Kingston Predator 16GB (4x4GB) DDR4 2400MHz, EVGA GTX 980 SC.

I have the CPU overclocked to 4.3GHz, so I am wondering if that might be a factor. System is stable vast majority of the time, and to my recollection I certainly haven't had 108 system crashes, but that's the number of those critical errors it's reporting as having happened.

I think I can rule out GPU as I upgraded to 980 in March and errors are reporting before that.

Try turning off quick boot in the windows settings, I had this issue with my MSI board. As soon as that was turned off the Kernel power events stopped. Still stumped as to why it was doing it though.

Do you mean Fast Startup within the Power Otpions via Control Panel, or is it a Bios setting, as I think my Asus board has a fast boot option.

I've had two more of these Kernel events the past couple of days (according to my event log), but my system has not crashed, which seems odd.
