Kernel-Power Failure

Hi there,

I'm having a problem with my system where it powers off abruptly.

I had this problem a while ago and when the RAM checked out fine after testing I changed the PSU. The new PSU seemed to do the trick for a while but the problem is back again, so I am not sure if it is not actually a PSU problem, or if lightning has struck twice and I need to change the PSU for a second time.

Temps seem okay and I've reverted to stock speeds. It's occurring very frequently and seemingly at random (at least not when under stress). The build is about 12 months old and has been kept clean. PSU is plugged into a surge protector.

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated...

Destructive surges occur typically once every seven years. Other appliances would also be damaged. And the computer would not power on.

You replaced a part (PSU) on speculation. Shotgunning often only cures symptoms. Fault should be identified before replacing anything. Then the actual defect can be cured. And reasons for that defect are possible.

Informed replies means you must first provide some three digit numbers. Even a kid can do this. Minutes of labor with a meter and some requested instructions provide those numbers. Then a next reply is specific; what is actually defective identified in a next reply.
